2005 – Funding granted
In 2005 the DfE granted £11.6m for the Krishna Avanti Primary School (KAPS) in Harrow, leaving just £1.9m to raise from donors.
2010 – Britain’s first state-funded Hindu School opens
2010 saw the official opening of the first Hindu state-funded school, Krishna Avanti Primary School. With its wood-clad buildings, large expanses of light and grass-covered roofs, the Krishna-Avanti Primary School in Edgware, north London, proclaims its respect for the environment. 2011 – Parliament Status Granted
Till now, Hinduism was the only major world religion which did not have a government-funded faith-school to serve its community. That all changed when the Avanti Trust was born! In 2011, the British Parliament resolved that Avanti was granted the status of ‘religious authority’ for Hindu faith schools; a great achievement for the large Hindu community of Britain!
2011 – KAPS Leicester Opens
Avanti School Trust opened Leicester’s first ever state funded Hindu primary school! It set out to provide a warm, friendly and engaging learning environment for children from all backgrounds and walks of life
2011 – Avanti in Redbridge
Avanti School Trust opened Redbridge's first ever state funded Hindu primary school! It set out to provide a warm, friendly and engaging learning environment for children from all backgrounds and walks of life.
2012 – ¹û¶³´«Ã½app Central Services Team is born
With the many admin, finance, business and media needs of the Avanti schools, the trust formed a central services team to support all the schools within the Trust.
Avanti visits 10 Downing Street
The UK's former Prime Minister David Cameron hosted his third annual Diwali celebration at 10 Downing Street, inviting professionals, organisations and religious representatives from across the Hindu community. In addition, students from Krishna Avanti Primary School and Avanti House Secondary School in Harrow were asked to entertain guests with traditional Lord Rama-inspired music and singing. 2015: Performance at Wembley Stadium
Children from Krishna Avanti Primary School in Harrow were invited to perform a cultural piece for the historic ‘Namaste Wembley’ event at Wembley Stadium! The event was to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi and was hosted by the UK’s former Prime Minister David Cameron. The students got the opportunity to meet both Prime Ministers and receive their congratulations!
2016: KAPS Croydon
The first Hindu state school was opened in 2016, south of the Thames. It features top educational standards, an eco-friendly awareness, a healthy vegetarian lifestyle and Yoga and mindfulness.
